Not a band class

We don't do group band classes.
We form real bands.

Most music schools call any group of four kids a "band class". Twelve Tone is different. We pair kids together, help them grow, build a real set list, and put them on a real stage in front of a real audience — every single term.

  1. 01

    We pair kids together

Twelve Tone matches kids by age, skill, and musical taste — so the band actually wants to play together. No random groupings of strangers.

  2. 02

    We help them grow

Every band is coached weekly by a working pro musician — band-leader, not lecturer. Kids learn how to listen, how to lead, how to back each other up.

  3. 03

    We build a set list

Each band picks real songs they actually love and works them into a stage-ready set. By the end of the term, they're not rehearsing — they're playing.

  4. 04

    We perform on our stage

Twelve Tone has its own stage in Glenview. Every band plays a real show every term — lights, sound, audience. Friends and parents are in the front row.

Testimonials

What People Are Saying.

Both of my kids love their teachers. We cannot say enough great things about Sandy. She has really inspired our daughter to love to play and practice. The night and day difference in our son's playing after joining a jam class is incredible.

I think private lessons are boring. I like my labs class. It's so fun to work with my teacher and jam. Guitar lab is just fun and I like going.

Twelve Tone Student

The labs program truly helped Declan, he wouldn't practice and was uninterested in playing until we found Twelve Tone — it's a night and day difference and now he makes sure we never miss a class!

Real Bands, Not Band Class

Why Twelve Tone Bands Stick

Most kids who join a band at Twelve Tone keep playing for years. The reason isn't pressure — it's chemistry. When a kid walks into rehearsal and four other kids are counting on them to play their part, practicing at home stops feeling like a chore. Twelve Tone forms bands that gel as friend groups first, players second. Showing up matters because the band matters.

How a Set List Comes Together

From First Riff to Final Show

Every Twelve Tone band picks songs together. Coaches help bands choose songs the kids actually love — and that fit the band's instruments and skill level. Over the term, the band learns three to five songs cold, working through arrangement choices, dynamics, and stage cues. By show night, the band isn't rehearsing anymore. They're playing a set.

Real Stage, Real Audience

Twelve Tone's In-House Stage

Twelve Tone is built around its own dedicated performance stage in Glenview — lights, sound, and a real audience every term. Most music schools rely on outside venues a few times a year. Twelve Tone bands play more often, with friends and parents in the front row, in a room engineered specifically for kids' first stage experience. By the time they age into outside venues, they're already comfortable performing live.
