Fall Enrollment at Twelve Tone Music School: What Families Should Know

5 min read

Fall is when Twelve Tone Music School in Glenview welcomes most new families. The school year provides natural structure for music progress, and starting in September means a student can hit a winter recital, a spring recital, and end the year with a real performance arc behind them. Here's how Twelve Tone fall enrollment works.

Who teaches at Twelve Tone?

Every Twelve Tone instructor is a working professional musician trained on the Twelve Tone curriculum, background-checked, and selected for the ability to teach kids specifically — which is a different skill from playing well.

The instructor is the single biggest variable in whether music sticks for a kid. Twelve Tone takes hiring seriously for that reason.

How are private lessons structured?

Twelve Tone Private Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes once a week, one-on-one, in piano, guitar, drums, voice, or bass. Curriculum is tailored to the student — pace, repertoire, and goals are set by the student and instructor together.

Private lessons start at age 5 and run through teens. Many adults take them too.

How do Twelve Tone Labs (group lessons) work?

Twelve Tone Labs are 60-minute small-group sessions of four kids at the same skill level on the same instrument. Piano Lab and other Labs run weekly through the school year and end with a session showcase on the Twelve Tone stage.

Labs start at age 6. They're the format most Twelve Tone students start with — energetic, social, and faster-progressing than most parents expect.

When can students perform?

Twelve Tone hosts roughly four student recitals a year on its dedicated Glenview stage, plus end-of-session band showcases. Every enrolled student is invited to perform at every recital — no audition, no audition prep, no gatekeeping.

Performance is built into the program. The stage is the reason kids stay year after year.

How does scheduling work?

Twelve Tone runs lessons Monday through Thursday (3pm–8pm), Saturday (9am–1pm), and Sunday (9am–noon). The studio's scheduling platform shows live availability — book a time, get instant confirmation, no phone tag.

If you need to reschedule, the platform handles it. Twelve Tone's worry-free makeup policy means a missed lesson isn't a wasted lesson.

How do I enroll my child for fall?

The path is: book a free trial class, meet the instructor, see if it's a fit, and enroll on the spot or take a few days to decide. No credit card required for the trial. No pressure.

Fall enrollment fills up fastest for Piano Lab and Rock Band. Trial-lesson slots are easier to grab earlier in the summer than later.
